Title |
Demographic patterns and characteristics of Utah |
Description |
The historical emphasis on numbers rather than on the quality and make-up of the population, though scarcely justifiable, is understandable. Concentration on a single magnitude certainly simplifies the projection of a population. To illustrate, the world population is now approximately 3.5 billion. Assuming a rather modest annual growth rate of 2.5 percent the world population will double every 28 years; i.e., 7 billion by 2000 and 14 billion by 2028. |
