An Awareness of Child Hunger | Utah

The basis of this project has been to provide an avenue for our community to connect to the issue of child hunger and respond through action. Child hunger is an issue that can and should be addressed within our own community in Utah. This project utilizes digital stories as a platform to create an awareness of this issue in Utah. Four families in Salt Lake City participated in the process of capturing their stories and experiences with hunger. Their stories create an image of hunger that goes beyond the statistics. Digital stories provide a meaningful product to aid people in understanding and connecting with this issue. Through the viewing of digital stories, authored by the families struggling, community members have an opportunity to actively listen and create a richer dialogue around the issue of child hunger that is affecting families right in our own backyards. This project provides an insight into shared human experience along with a tangible understanding of the root causes to hunger.
