Show Z3\ ?i<u May 28, 1874 Mr. Glenn Markoc Center for Near Eastern Studies University of California Berkeley, California 84720 Bear Mr. Markoe: Dr, Atiya has referred your letter of April 28, 1974, to rae. While it is true that we have accumulated a modest collection of audio visual material, I regret that most of the slides cannot he duplicated because they are either commercial productions and hence copyrightedor donated to the Center with the explicit stipulation that the University of Utah not duplicate them. Recently, for example, we received 1,800 slides on Islamic architecture from the Smithsonian Institution. The collection was bequeathed to our Middle East library by the late Myron B. Smith under the conditions mentioned above. Should you be interested in this collection, I suggest that you contact the Smithsonian Institution, which we understand to be Mr, Smith's trustee, and Mrs. Myron B. Smith, 1788 Place, N .W., Washington, D .C. Our documentary films are also from commercial sources, or gifts from various embassies. We also have a collection of microfilms, some of which are available through the Center for Research Libraries in Chicago. I regret that I cannot accomodate you in this matter, but my hands are tied. Thank you for your interest in our collection. Sincerely, Khosrow Mostofi Director KM/jj cc - Dr. Axli S.
