Two letters between William S. Culbertson and Azia Atiya from 1953

1. One-page typewritten letter to Colonel Culbertson from Aziz S. Atiya in Cairo, Egypt, dated April 23, 1953. Contents of the letter include happy recollection of the Culbertsons' recent trip to Egypt and that Dr. Atiya has included in the letter photographs of the statue of the Good Shepherd and St. Menas; Dr. John S. Badeau is leaving Egypt in August 1953 and will be in New York; the Clelands (friends) will be visiting in Cairo. There is a possibility of another trip to the United States which could continue the conversation about Dr. Atiya's manuscript collection. 2. One-page typewritten letter from William S. Culbertson to Dr. Aziz Atiya, on Culbertson, Briggs and Pendleton, Attorneys and Counsellors at Law, Washington, D.C. stationery, dated March 27, 1953. In the letter Culbertson thanks Atiya some photographs that accompanied Dr. Atiya recent letter. Mentioned in the letter are Wendall Cleland and John S. Badeau who had interests and ties to Egypt, also Dr. Atiya's interest in establishing a center in the United States which would afford an opportunity for research work related to his collection of ancient manuscripts
