No, I look like everyone else but my lifestyle is different. I am vegan, which means I do not eat meat or dairy. Some people find this really weird and some find it interesting. Have you experienced prejudice from other staff, faculty or students? Does it happen often? How do you handle it? I have not found any prejudice yet, but people who I am around tease me a lot about being vegan. I just make jokes back at them. Sometimes I felt, that my ideas about protecting nature are far away from mainstream. For example, waking and not going by car, using your own plate when everybody uses paper or plastic. It wasn't a problem though. Do people judge you differently because you have an accent? Sometimes they speak slower, that is very nice. One day I had problems with my health insurance. That was a bad experience. I was pretty sure they were unfriendly because of my accent. |
