Show --------. TO. Attendees, ISlA Summer Planning Meeting FROM. Clinics Committee SUBJECT: 1974-75 Clinics Program The ISlA Clinics Committee has outlined an imaginative program of clinics for the 1974-75 ski season v'lhich "Vle submit for your approval. We solicit your suggestions that the program can be as refined and practical as possible. The C.linics Committee has scheduled three fo.rmal educational clinics which l'iill be open to all members of the association for a pre-registration fee of five dollars for each clinic that the instructor desires to attend. Late registration at the clinics will be for six dollars. The purpose of these clinics is to help prepare instructors for certification examinations as well as to improve an instructors general knowledge and ability. The subject matter t:r-8C'.ted 1-;ill include methodology, theory, demonstrations Hnd_ t'ree SKiing t with emphasis on having fun. One additional clinic 1'rill be open to the association membership for a fioe dollar pre-registration fee. That being a free-style clinic to be held during the month of Narch, and will deal solery with free style skiing, break down and teaching of the maneuvers. The committee 1'1ill also entertain a limited number of requests from individual ski schools for cli~ics after the conclusion of the three scheduled association clinics. These clinics will be c9mplimentary to all who attend as long as the host area will comp lift tickets to the visiting instructors and participants. In-as-much-as it is not the policy of the ISlA Clinics Committee to operate at a profit, this "Free Clinics II program will continue until clinics funds are exhausted, after which clinic requests will be honored on a fee basis. In order to initiate this program and make it run successfully, a force of willing clinic instructors will have to be created who will be available on call. This pool of instructors should include all examiners, the demo team, technical and certification committee members as well as other experienced instructors. Clinic instructors will be paid one half the normal examiners pay and travel expense for travel over 100 miles, for the three ISlA general clinics. Compensation for teaching all day clinics will be the same as that for examining. -2- In an effort to obtain needed feedback, as well as to assist in the building of a pool of competent clinic instructors, clinic participants will be requested to fill out a critique sheet similar to that used in the certification program. It is necessary that a central clearing house for clinic requests be established so the program can be coordinated and run smoothly. Therefore, all requests for any type of clinic should be directed to Bob Parker, ~lalad. Idaho, 83252. The ISlA Clinics Committee feels that the clinics program planned for the coming ski season is one which all association members can be proUd of. The programs success, however, will be determined by the number of experienced instructors who will give of their time and knowledge. The committee further hopes that a strong and active clinics program will become a permanent part of the certification program in ISlA. Respectfully, Bob Parker Gene Palmer Duane Vigos ISlA CLINICS COMMITTEE RFP/df Intermountain Ski Instructors Association CLINICS SCHEDULE GENERAL CLINICS. 1.
