Show 4 provlsIOn is made for scholarships in colleges and professional schools (excepting theological schools!) and in general there is much to be thankful for. But there has probably never been a time when the Navajo People so sorely need the Church and the help that no one else can give. I olNE of our Summer Workers, Ed Jones, must have sat down to his typewriter as Soon as he got home, and ran off the following comments .. We print them, thinking that possibly some other young folks are already thinking about next Summer's activities: We were isolated from civilization, but it was a pleasant isolation in the midst of spectacular scenery, blessed silence and communal worship. " ---- . There was very little diversion of the kind I had grown accustomed to in Salt Lake, therefore simple pleasures such as going on walks, watching old Westerns, and drinking Kool- Aid, became very stimulating. My most rewarding experience was the one week in which I worked more directly with the Navajo, leading the children in hymn singing. I came to grow fond of the Navajo youngsters. I hope t hat I was able to give as much to the Mission in work as I received from it in education, fellowship, and spiritual values. - Edward Jones |
