Title |
Development of a Power over Ethernet (POE) Airu Sensor |
Date |
2020 |
Description |
Poor air quality has been linked to both health and economic concerns, and is a growing research topic in Salt Lake City. The AQ&U program at the University of Utah strives to develop a large network of low-cost air quality sensors (AirU's) to study air pollution throughout the Salt Lake valley. Many schools in the Salt Lake valley want air quality sensors, but the current AirU model cannot be deployed at schools due to Wi-Fi security issues and a lack of outdoor power outlets. Power over Ethernet (PoE) resolves both of these issues. The goal of this project is to design a PoE AirU model to deploy at schools. This paper describes the process of designing the PoE AirU model. |
