The San Rafael oil fields; where the oil runs out of the rocks |
Date |

Description |
The following article has been prepared and written with the object of furnishing accurate and dependable information of what is, perhaps, as little known a region as exists in this Twentieth Century. It is a country of wonderful possibilities and the writer after years of careful observation and experience in other oil fields, firmly believes that it is destined to be one of the great oil fields of the country and well worthy of investigation by those who appreciate the value of getting in on the ground floor of a new oil field. This article does not give all the evidence of a great oil field for many new items have been discovered in the short time since this article was written. Test work has shown that the oil sands exposed in this area and termed oil saturated sands are in truth saturated with oil and holes drilled almost at random in the surface of these sands encounters oil in measurable quantities in a few feet. The oil found is of differing gravity ranging from a light colored oil, quickly evaporating and leaving a neglible residue, to black oils of heavy gravity. |
