Title Preliminary report of oil impregnated sediments of the San Rafael Swell
Date 1970-06
Description The deposits are given the following geographic names: 1. Black Dragon Deposit 2. Jackass Bench Deposit 3. Cottonwood Draw Deposit 4. Red Canyon Deposit , 5. Family Butte Deposit The relationships (stratigraphic and horizontal) of the above deposits are uncertain. Deposits 2 and 3 occupy the same stratigraphic interval and have the same lithology. Deposit 1 also has the same relationships but also occupies a much thicker interval. All of deposits 2 and 3 and most of deposit 1 is below the Sinbad Limestone Member of the Moenkope Formation. All of deposit 4 is above the Sinbad Limestone. This deposit is probably not closely related to any of the others. Deposit 5 is in a faulted area and the stratigraphic relations are not yet known although much of the deposit appears to be above the Sinbad LS.
