Stain: Azan. The lumen is lined with one layer of ciliated epithelium (1) without goblet cells. Patches of smooth muscle fibers (2) are present. Notice small bronchial arteries (*). Arrows (↓) indicate sites of carbon accumulations between the alveoli (3). |
