Title |
Revised Utah population estimates for the 1990s |
Date |
2001-05 |
Description |
Every 10 years, the U.S. Bureau of the Census conducts a population count. In the intervening years the Utah Population Es timates Committee (UPEC) annually prepares total resident population estimates for each of the 29 counties in the state. These estimates are based on methods that ut i l i z e symptomatic data such as school enrollment, tax records, and other data. Because births and deaths are known, the real work of the Committee is to estimate the net in-migration for each county. The decennial Census provide s an opportunity to evaluate the accuracy of the estimates for the preceding 10 years. The Committee also revises these estimates so that they are consistent with this new Census enumeration. |
