Description |
Location and general information: The area designated as Asphalt Ridge, located directly southwest of the Ashley Creek oil field, is in the northeastern part of Uintah County, Utah, in T. 5 S. , R. 22 E. , and T. 6 S. , R. 21 E. Geologically, the area is situated on the north flank, and extends to the center, of the Uinta Basin. The Ashley Valley Anticline, a surface expression, is northeast of the area. Object of the survey: The survey was undertaken to determine the depth of the sedimentary section in the center of the Uinta Basin, to determine if any significant structure is associated with the flank of the Basin, and to find and delineate any faults. |
