Blue sky, white snow, red rocks, and mountains. The version I'm submitting here has a Utah raptor, which is probably slightly too detailed for a child to draw, but the idea is that it would be some type of either allosaurus or Utah raptor as they are both official symbols of the state. A stylized version of either would work well. My ideal design is that the symbol in the center could be swapped out with any official state symbol. So we could have the dinosaurs in there, but we could also do a dutch oven, a seagull, a beehive, a sego lily, a sugar beet, a cherry, a trout, an aspen, an M1911, a skier, an elk, etc. Having the base flag in red, white, and blue, with the swappable gold symbol in the middle makes it a common flag for everyone, yet customizable to various individuals and groups who want to emphasize what part of Utah they connect most with. The state legislature can add any symbol they want as an official state fill-in-the-blank, and it becomes an option for the flag. We can make there be one official government version but any alternative would be legit as well, using any of the official state symbols. |
