Climate change is one of the prime social issues of the modern era. I argue that in order to achieve the necessary collective action to reduce the harmful effects of the climate crisis, society needs to move past the human/nature binary. This binary obfuscates the reality that humans have a place within nature rather than outside of it. While this binary remains enforced, any proposed climate change solutions will not succeed because they will fail to address the biotic community holistically. This will encourage collective action among individuals and communities to take on the climate crisis, because as it stands, sufficient action is lacking. |
