The women's healthcare system encompasses a variety of milestone events a person could experience within their lifetime. The aim of this literature review is to describe themes, reflect upon the participant and physician relationship, and create an understanding for what happens within the realm of the women's healthcare system among patients through analysis survey of qualitative literature. The specific topics analyzed were menstruation, contraception in adolescents, abortion, pregnancy, and menopause. For this thesis, qualitative research articles were found, read, and reviewed for common themes. The common theme among topics included better education, lessening of stigma, and increased support leads to better outcomes among patients within the women's healthcare system. Another key finding of this review was the exploration of common events and procedures within the women's healthcare system not being experienced or reflected the same among patients. This review also uses storytelling through personal narrative to give insight into the women's healthcare system from the author's perspective. |
