Description |
A bicolor with a saline blue for what I hope is obvious symbolism (the Lake), as well as representing the European immigrants and their descendants, on the upper half; and a dull red on the lower half for the red-rock deserts of the south and the Indians who resided here natively and who still live here. A fimbriation of white divides the fields of saline blue and red, 1/47 the hoist in breadth (for 1847, the year the white-man arrived in Utah to settle), centered vertically, representing brightness of future and a hope for the peoples of the state to live as one people united. PS, the flag submitted is 3x5 ratio as requested, but it would look better as a 1x2. PPS, I am open to mild changes to the colors, but the blue must be immediately recognizable as "saline", the red must be dark, dull, sanguine in hue, and the thin band must be white. PPPS, it is possible to construct this flag with compass and straightedge only to its correct dimensions. |
