Description |
"While designing this flag, I wanted to keep it simple. I resorted to using shapes but placed them in areas where they would look more interesting. The people of Utah have always been supporting of one another and I believe that the navy blue in the back is a great way to show our stability and unity as a community. Splitting the bottom half into white was there to represent our peace, purity, and trust. By having the two meet in the middle, it shows how strong and connected we are. The half triangle in the middle is there to represent the great mountains we have here in Utah. The orange filling is for the desert sands and red rocks we have and the white surrounding it and coming further down the triangle is there for the big snowy mountains. The circle on top is there to represent the sun rising over our mountains. I kept it the same color as the mountains as well as the white outline because of the freedom, happiness, and creativity we express here in Utah. The tree in the middle of the circle is our state tree, the quaking aspen, and it is filled with navy blue to represent our Great Salt Lake and the white is to represent the safety we have here in our state. By putting the word Utah and the year of our states founding in the navy blue part of the flag, shows how we all appreciate and are dedicated to our state and its people. The reason for putting them both in red is to show our passion for others and our communities." |
