"I created a Sego Lily centered over the point where 4 rectangles meet. The Sego Lily is stylized in modern, uniform lines to represent steady, forward progress while looking back at our pioneer heritage. Sego Lilies are also an international symbol of peace. I chose our prominent national colors to convey Utah's values and how they resonate with our Founding Father's vision for our nation. The four squares touching in the center represent how we are striving for unity, as well as a nod to the Four Corners area of our state. The four squares are also reminiscent of the nautical flag for the letter U."
