"For this flag, I used the standard red from the U.S. national flag color code to represent the Red Rocks of southern Utah. I used the color prescribed by the State as the standard Blue of the current flag for the blue. This represents the Great Salt Lake. The White is a pure Mountain White representing the snow-capped mountains throughout the state. The order of these colors is representational of the ground, mountains, and sky. I also selected the beehive and star for two reasons. The first is that the beehive represents our state, The Beehive State, and the star represents statehood in the United States of America. The yellow ring around the beehive and star represents wealth and unity. The blue field behind the beehive and star represent loyalty. The gold color is also the same color used by the current flag."
