The background is a dark blue like in the original flag, but slightly more purple (added more red) to represent the mountains, giving tribute to the phrase "purple mountain majesties". The sego lilies are the state flower, and give tribute to the pioneers, which are a big part of our state's history. The beehive, along with symbolizing the state motto "Industry", also symbolizes the sense community that Utah has. No matter where you are in the state, people are kind and have your back. Finally, Delicate Arch is probably one of, if not the most, recognizable symbol of our state. When people look at our flag, they shouldn't have to double check with google, they should just know it is the Utah flag. The words "Utah" also help people know you are showing state pride, and help the flag to be more recognizable.
