"This flag represents growth, peace, industry, our indigenous roots, and our local landscape. The sego lily represents growth, being a flower that flourishes in our harsh desert climate and nourished the early inhabitants. Utah is a state that is ever growing, physically and culturally, just like the sego lily. The white of the lily represents both peace and our iconic Salt Lake and Flats. At the center of the lily is a golden hexagon, representing our industrious, beehive community. The navy fesses represents liberty and the vast sky that we are all united under, paying homage to the same color in the original Utah flag. The central red fess represents our famous red rock landscape." |
