Description |
"This flag represents growth, peace, industry, our indigenous roots, and our local landscape. The sego lily represents growth, being a flower that flourishes in our harsh desert climate and nourished the early inhabitants. Utah is a state that is ever growing, physically and culturally, just like the sego lily. The white of the lily represents both peace and our iconic Salt Lake and Flats. At the center of the lily is a golden hexagon, representing our industrious, beehive community. The red and gold circles surrounding the lily represents the sun, a symbol central to the traditions of the indigenous tribes native to this area. The navy pale represents liberty and the vast sky that we are all united under, paying homage to the same color in the original Utah flag." |
