The so-called Beetsy Ross flag is red, white and blue with a beehive surrounded by 13 stars in the top left corner. The three divisions of the flag represent the geographic regions of the state: the Colorado Plateau, the Rocky Mountains and the Great Basin. The beehive is located where the Great Salt Lake is on a map of Utah. Red, white and gold represent the Colorado Plateau, the Rocky Mountains and the Great Basin Desert. Blue represents the Great Salt Lake. The flag uses the same beehive as the 125th Anniversary commemorative flag, ensuring that they look uniform when flying next to each other. The beehive is surrounded by the 13 stars of the Betsy Ross flag, representing Utah statehood and referencing the 13-star Mormon Pioneer Flag."
