Description The background should be the same blue as our current flag so as to honor it and the meaning there. Next we have the state itself in white. On top of the state we have the medicine wheel to honor our Native American heritage. The wheel is composed of a circle of 28 stones representing most of utah's counties while the beehive in the center represents salt lake county. Each of the cardinal directions of the medicine wheel represent a portion of our history. To the north we have the golden spike, representing our place as a crossroads of the west. To the east we have a line that matches the pioneer trail to Utah, while a hand cart family walks the trail. To the south we have a pickaxe to honor our mining history. And to the west we have the Japanese Cherry Blossom representing and honoring the Japanese who were forcibly interned at Topaz during wwii
