Description About this Flag Utah is called the "Beehive State" for a reason. The beehive is an important symbol and one of the oldest emblems of Utah. The seven stripes in the background represent our seven national forests: Ashley, Caribou-Targhee, Dixie, Fishlake, Manti-La Sal, Sawtooth, and Uinta-Wasatch-Cache Yellow symbolizes our education and enlightenment White symbolizes the snow that graces Utah's beautiful peaks, providing water to the state and recreational opportunities.
