Description |
Symbolism and meaning: Chock full of symbolism, this flag includes the Utah state fossil (allosaurus), engaging in the official state winter sport (skiing), while sporting a beanie with the official state seal, while wearing a necklace made of the official state mineral (copper), which hangs the official state gem (topaz). To the right is the official state fish (Bonneville Cutthroat Trout), which is engaging in the other official state winter sport (snowboarding), while brandishing the official state firearm (Browning M1911 automatic pistol). The snowboard is decorated with the official state tartan and the symbol for the official state folk dace (square dance). Below the trout, is the official state animal (Rocky Mountain Elk) along side the official state tree (Quaking Aspen). Hanging from the aspen is the official state emblem (beehive), accompanied by the official state insect (honey bee). Below the beehive is the official state cooking pot (dutch oven), resting in the official state grass (Indian Rice Grass), which contains the official state flower (Sego Lily), and is joined by the official state rock (coal). Cooking in the pot is the official state vegetable (Spanish Sweet Onion), joined by the official state historic vegetable (sugar beet), and the official state fruit (cherry). On the side of the pot is the logo for the official state railroad museum (Ogden Union Station). In the top right of the flag is the official state astronomical symbol (Beehive Cluster located in the constellation of Cancer the Crab) and the official state star (Dubhe). In the top left of the flag is the official state bird (California Seagull). On the bottom is the official state motto (Industry). Assuming the allosaurus and the trout are singing the official state song and hymn respectively, I think I've got them all. Please tell Governor Cox that this should be our new State flag. |
