Biographical Note/Historical Note +/-Frederick Glenn ("Fred") Burton was born in 1939 in Pennsylvania to Glenn F. and Vivian Burton. He had two brothers (James W. Burton and Dale Burton) and a sister (Deborah Burton Watson). He received his B.A. from College of Wooster, his M.A. from Wesleyan University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Rochester. A lifelong Presbyterian, Dr. Burton moved to Utah in 1989. He is a former research scientist and lab manager, publishing articles in a number of scientific journals. He is now retired and living with his wife Jeanne in Stansbury Park, Utah. Amazon Books describes his 765-page book entitled Presbyterians in Zion: history of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Utah thus: "Frederick G. Burton provides a thorough overview of the work of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Utah from its beginnings there in the 1860's. The book assembles the Church's history in a manner that attempts to offer all of the information relevant to the faith that was previously scattered, all in one definitive volume. The book is written from the perspective of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) itself, and the people who came to Utah to represent that faith." Sources:
