Dr. Sherman S. Brinton, 1917-2003, was an eye physician and surgeon known for his compassion, kindness and thoroughness in caring for his patients. With his wife, Bonna, at his side, he balanced well the priorities of medicine, family, and faith. He received his B.A. and two-year certificate in Medicine from the University of Utah and his M.D. degree from the University of Maryland. He served as a U.S. Army medical officer in Europe during World War II. Dr. Brinton was one of the first board-certified ophthalmologists in Utah and performed one of the first corneal transplants in the state. His distinguished medical practice spanned almost 40 years. He was President of the Utah Ophthalmology Society and served on the clinical faculty at the University of Utah School of Medicine, of which his four sons are graduates. They, along with a daughter-in-law and several grandchildren, continue his extraordinary medical legacy. Dr Briton died in 2003.
