Description
Presenting Symptom: downbeat nystagmus; hypometria to the right. 5-27-82: 32 year old man of short stature and overweight. Referred by Dr. Zee for study of down beat nystagmus. Has always had a short stocky neck and has had periodic apnea (2nd patient of Dr. Zee's with down beat nystagmus and intermittent apnea). Onset of Sx was blurring of vision for which he consulted an optometrist and later an ophthalmologist and thence to a neurosurgeon. Posterior decompression was done with little change in symptoms. Treatment: surgical decompression. Disease/ Diagnosis: Arnold Chiari Malformation
