Description |
Many types of diagnostic and therapeutic imaging in nuclear medicine require radiation as an essential part of the procedure. These entail different amounts of dose and exposure to the patient. Doctors, technologists, and patients in nuclear medicine often wonder how much dose and exposure is associated with various procedures and their effect on the body. The goal of this project is to compile dose information and create a resource that can be easily accessed by doctors, patients, and technologists. Specifically, this resource will include a discussion of basic terminology and concepts, a database of effective dose values and organ dose values across various procedures, and an FAQ section. This resource aims to assign meaning to radiation dose and improve the understanding of nuclear medicine procedures. |
