Description The intent of this flag is to be distinctive and easily identified when flying among other US state flags. The white on the top symbolizes the white snow of the mountains in the north and the orange on the bottom symbolizes the southern Utah landscape and the red rock found predominately in this region. The blue alludes to the heritage of the current Utah flag as well as the lakes and rivers throughout Utah that bring life to the land and Utahns living there. The blue circle specifically represents the Great Salt Lake that pioneers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints found as they entered into the Salt Lake valley in 1847 (a symbolic representation of the date on the current Utah flag). The official state emblem of the gold beehive is placed on the flag (its design taken from the 2021 Commemorative Utah flag) to symbolize industry and is located near the left side to be seen more easily and constantly as the flag flies in the wind.
