Description This study explores the impact within a classroom when teachers are provided with explicit training, curricula, and support to develop the social and emotional skills of their students. The purpose of this study was to examine the experiences of elementary classroom teachers supporting their students' social and emotional learning, all within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ten teachers from seven schools in Canyons School District, UT, reported immense gratitude for the use of Second Step curriculum, emphasized their role in developing their students social and emotional skills as teachers, and shared the need to increase the support of educator's mental health. As many educators leave the profession due to exhaustion and burn-out, districts and school administrators must proactively support their teachers' mental health.
