Description This is the original flag of Utah that I believe we ought to be using. It was flown by the pioneers who fled religious persecution and turned our desert home into a beautiful oasis. The flag is meant to be a copy of an American flag, but has its stripes changed in color to represent that we are a state, it shows that although we are Americans we are also Utahns. The 13 stars represent the 13 colonies as well as the apostles and christ. While many would say that a 'religious' symbol shouldn't be on our flag, I find it strange to include a beehive in our state seal, and flag as it's a religious symbol. Our first governor was the leader of a church to add to the importance of religious history in this state. We should express our history, our struggle to make Utah home to the home of outdoor activities and business opportunities. And our success. Furthermore a flag should be simple. Any flag worth having should be able to flown on a pole, hung as a banner, and drawn by a child. Vexoligy (the study of flags) dictates that the best flags ever have these traits. The flag should have dominant symbols on the left, because we read left to right, as well as it being a fixed point of view when hanging. The designs that have been made and shown for this state, remind me of cluttered and crappy confederate flags. Involving seals, complex symbols, years, and too many colors. For an example of a good American flag and why my proposal ought to be chosen I'd advise looking at the city of Chicago's flag, then look at the city of San Francisco's flag (a flag mocked and berated internationally). I do not want to associate my state with a crappy flag like San Franciscos, so I'd really appreciate you picking my flag, or one similar to it. Thanks!
