Description |
"This is the Utah Unity flag. It has something for everyone. The central orange element of the flag is both a sandstone arch (with a stone or rising sun in the middle) and, at the same time, also a beehive. The arch is for the unique desert landscape. The beehive is for the Mormon settlers. The larger white stripe is for the salt flats. The smaller white stripe is for the snow in the mountains. The larger blue stripe is for the big Utah sky. The smaller blue stripe is for the wild natural rivers, and for the irrigation that bring life. Together, the five strips (two blue, two white, one orange) represent the five major tribes with strong cultural legacies which continue to flourish: Ute, Dine' (Navajo), Paiute, Goshute, and Shoshone.
