Description |
This is a simple three colored flag meant to evoke the geography for which Utah is famous. The white triangle centered in the top half represents the Rocky Mountains and Utah's claim to have "The Best Snow on Earth." The red below the white completes the mountain and pays homage to Utah's southern redrock country. Together, they center Utah within the Intermountain West. The blue completes the flag, evokes sky imagery, and completes the three colors also found on the American Flag. This ties Utah in as one of the states of the United States, with all the symbolism tied to the colors of the United States flag. While I debated adding either a beehive or sego lily design to the center of the flag (overlapping the white and red), I was persuaded to leave them off when I read the "Other Considerations" section and saw "Consider how easy the flag design would be to sew" listed. |
