Title Market performance and the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic
Description This paper analyzes the relationship between the daily stock market performance and daily COVID-19 related information. Specifically, this paper analyzes the relationship between the S&P 500 index and daily COVID-19 infection, hospitalizations, and mortality data. The paper will also focus on certain industries that were significantly affected by the pandemic. These industries include oil, information technology, airline, retail, restaurants, automobile, and healthcare. COVID-19 had a profound impact on the way people conducted business, how they traveled, and how they interacted. The purpose of this paper is to explore whether those changes were reflected in the overall US stock market performance and the performance in certain key industries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
