Description |
THIRD SUBMISSION: EAGLE GATE FLAG 3 Much of the same symbolism as Submissions 1 and 2. To restate: This flag is immediately recognizable from any distance. The Eagle-and-Beehive motif, already sitting atop the Eagle Gate at the base of the State Capitol, is a visually arresting and iconically Utahn symbol for both the state's pioneer history and its contemporary place in the American Union (represented by the Deseret beehive and American bald eagle, respectively). The five white stars represent the Ute, Goshute, Paiute, Shoshone, and Diné indigenous civilizations of Utah. However: The blue background both honors the legacy of the Utah state flag and provides a familiar visual language to identify this flag alongside many of America's other most beautiful and recognizeable state flags (South Carolina, Indiana, Colorado, etc.). |
