Description Presenting Symptom: Occluded retinal artery. Pathology: Retinal artery occlusion. Clinical: The patient was a 44-year old male who had had a confirmed sickle cell thalassemia hemoglobinopathy established at age 28 following a splenic infarct. A splenectomy was performed; he remained asymptomatic until the present occlusion of the central retinal artery. Disease/ Diagnosis: Retinal artery occlusion
