Plate 268

Update Item Information
Title Plate 268
Alternative Title Rock hills between Green and White rivers, Stanley lithograph from Kern sketch
Description Incorrectly titled lithograph by John Mix Stanley based on sketch drawn by Richard H. Kern during the Gunnison expedition at "Camp 61" on 10 September 1853. Stanley mistakenly gave it a title placing the scene among the rock hills between the White and Green Rivers in Utah, as Shlaer explains. Vegetation reflects the desert of Utah rather than the hills south of the Gunnison River. Actual source is shown in Plate 267 with its correct title, "Grand River Canyons."
