"For this flag I wanted to represent Utah's position in the movement west of the united states. The triangle on the right, with the red sands of the south, and snow capped peaks of north shown in the colors, acts to point the reader. West just like the movement of the pioneers, fur trappers, and modern day travelers to the wonders of Utah. The two grey lines show the wagon ruts left by the early pioneers that can still be found today. They guide the way to the beehive and industry that surrounds Utah and the growth we experienced. The blue backdrop is meant to show the great salt lake one of the greatest features of our state. As well as the many lakes, streams, forests, and rivers that populate the whole of the state."
