Description "I am passionate about flags. I even have my own podcast about flags and how important they are for peoples and places (@flagtheoryppodcast). I have been looking forward to Utah's flag redesign for a while now because I think it's such a cool opportunity to become a state with a readily recognizable flag that people can be excited about. This is my flag design. Blue - Represents the blue sky and the Great Salt Lake White - Represents Utah's ski industry, home of the Greatest Snow on Earth Red - Represents the Red Rock in southern Utah and Utah's beautiful national parks Five Yellow Hexagons - Represent the industry of Utah and the state insect, the honeybee, a foundational symbol of Utah history and culture. 5 hexagons represent the five major Native American Heritages in Utah (Ute, Dine', Paiute, Goshute, and Shoshone). The 5 hexagons also represent the five incredible Utah areas designated as US National Parks (Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Zion) This design is elegant enough to be used for state branding, can be shrunk to different sizes, and is easy to recreate. I have put a lot of thought into this design and think it represents many important parts of what Utah means to its people, and is a flag that our state could be very proud of."
