Description |
Presenting Symptom: Vitreous hemorrhage. Pathology: Occluded terminal venules. The patient was a 57-year old male who was discovered at PE to have thalassemia minor. His only ocular complaint was repeated conjunctival hemorrhages but the periphery of the right fundus showed occlusion of the terminal portion of the superior temporal artery. This was evident by the conspicuous white line in the upper portion of the photograph and by occlusion of the terminal venules as seen by the less conspicuous white line to the left of the photograph. The tortuous venules connecting with the patent vessel in the lower right portion of the photograph provide a collateral circulation. (The central dark spots are photographic artifacts.) Disease/ Diagnosis: Eales Disease |
