Description |
The mountains symbolize one of Utah's greatest assets, the greatest snow on Earth! I strategically placed the mountains going upward. In Utah we persevere, we are continually pressing forward and reaching new heights. The bottom dark brown layer symbolizes Utah's first inhabitants, the dinosaurs. This layer celebrates Utah's rich natural resources. The next layer (orange) symbolizes Utah's rich Native American heritage history. It also celebrates the red cliffs Utah is so famous for. The next layer (yellow) symbolizes Utah's pioneer legacy, often symbolized by a beehive. This gives a nod to Utah's motto, 'Industry'. Symbolizing we all work together to make Utah successful. The next layer (green) symbolized Utah's agriculture and growth. We have a rich history, and a prosperous future in agriculture. Being married to a 6th generation Utah farmer (cattle and turkey), this particular symbolism is especially poignant to me. The next layer (dark turquoise) celebrates Utah education, and technology, how we strive to prepare future generations for success in Utah. As a pubic school teacher in Utah, I know the importance of education, and see firsthand, how teachers are shaping Utah's future. The background is bright blue symbolizing that Utah has a bright future. The bright blue star symbolizes our love of being part of America. The star pays tribute to those past and present who have served our country. It also honors all of those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. |
