Description "This flag includes a representation of the beautiful landscapes that people from all over the world come to Utah to enjoy, with a snow-covered mountainThe state flower, the sego lily, is shown in the center. Symbolically, the flower reminds viewers of the native Utahns that saved early pioneers by teaching them to eat and use the plant. Extending it to present day, this symbol shows how Utahns from different backgrounds can come together to help and share. Accepting others whether we've been here for a long time or are new to the state. The slope of the mountain represents our continual efforts to improve, basing our efforts on our values and principles, like the strong base provided by our granite and other stone. Here the blue symbolizes our unity, where we must base our efforts to reach the peak of the mountain, our lofty goals, symbolized by the white triangle. In addition to symbolizing our beautiful desert, the yellow symbolizes optimism and hope and the orange the warmth of our communities. Finally, the radial symmetry of the flower along with the symmetry represents equality and justice."
