"The beehive has become an ubiquitous symbol of Utah. It's found not only on the old flag, but also on road signs, the logos of some businesses and organizations, and many other places. The gold color represents the richness of Utah's industry and culture, and also hints at the golden spike that completed the transcontinental railroad. Keeping the beehive, and the blue circle around it, on the new flag pays homage to the old flag. The dark blue at the bottom symbolizes the Great Salt Lake, the green triangles symbolize our awesome mountains, and the light blue at the top symbolizes the clear skies of an optimistic future."
