The flag has a navy blue field to tie in with the blue of the flag of the United States: to symbolize Utah being part of this Union. On the bottom of the flag are two horizontal equally sized jagged bars to look like mountain ranges. The top bar is white to symbolize the snow capped mountains of northern Utah, and the bottom bar is an orange mountain range to symbolize the magnificent rust colored vistas of southern Utah. In the center of the blue field is a yellow beehive to symbolize the Mormon Pioneers of the beehive state. The two colors of mountains at the bottom of the flag can also symbolize the diverse skin tones and histories of the many people who call these lands home. These ranges co-exist to show the harmony and beauty of a varied landscape and varied people.
