Description |
Presenting Symptom: Loss of vision OD. Pathology: Glioma. Clnical: Gliomas of the optic nerve are a recognized occurrence in a small percentage of patients (especially children) with neurofibromatosis. They usually involve the retrobulbar portion of the nerve but rarely may, as in this case, produce tumors on the nerve head and retina. The patient was a 21-year old male who had had several neurofibromas of the skin removed. He had experienced recent decrease in vision of the right eye and was found to have a tumor, presumably glioma, projecting from the disc. Disease/ Diagnosis: Neurofibromatosis |
