Dr Carroll was born in Palm Springs, California in 1943. Dr Carroll received his B.A. from Swarthmore College in 1965 and his Ph.D. in from the University of California, Berkeley in 1970. Dr Carroll was a Fellow in cell biology at the Beatson Institute of Cancer Research (1970-1972) as well as a Fellow in developmental biology Carnegie Institute in Washington (1972-1975). Dr Carroll has been Assistant Professor (1975-1981); Associate Professor (1981-1985) and Professor and Co-Chairman in Biochemistry at the University of Utah since 1985. Dr Carroll research interests lie in the mechanisms of recombination and double-strand break repair and gene targeting through DNA breaks. |
