Date 1999-03
Description The Greater Wasatch Area is currently home to 1.6 million people (a population slightly smaller than the Portland metro area). By 2020, the population is expected to increase to 2.7 million people (a population roughly equivalent in size to the current population of the San Diego metro area). This means that on average, throughout the period, the population will increase by approximately 43,000 new residents per year, a population the current size of Bountiful. This population growth is expected to occur at a rate twice the national average and two-thirds of the growth will originate from the region's own children and grandchildren.
